Danica Flora

Most of you will learn that I'm obsessed with dinnerware, china patterns, crystal, silver pieces, and table linens. Where did this little addiction come from? I have no idea but I acquired it at a very young age. I could go weak in the knees over a beautiful set of china. For an example, I'm head over hills in love with Danica Flora. However, the lovely dinnerware is a little out of my price range.

Here's a tid bit of history on the fabulous china. In 1790 the Danish Crown Prince Federik ordered a dinner set made decorated with exact copies of the plates of Flora Danica. The dinner set was supposedly meant as a gift for Russian Empress Catherine II. Catherine, however, never received it, as she died in 1796.

The dinner set is still in use for state occasions in the Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. Copies of the set are sold by the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory. Again, it's expensive. For an individual cup and saucer it ranges from $1850.00 to $2055.00. WOW! Can you imagine having an entire serving set of twelve!!!
I'll probably never own a set but I do enjoy drooling over them, LOL....
